When they decided to join the solutions team of the Semillas Project as volunteers, they never imagined the impact the experience would have on their own lives.
Their role was to support young women throughout their educational and professional development journey. Throughout the project, they witnessed how practical tools — such as building a résumé, preparing for job interviews, and developing personal skills — opened new opportunities for participants.
But the true value of the experience went far beyond technical skills.
“The most important part was the space of support and care that was created,” they share. In every session, participants were not only building skills, but also building connections. Listening to stories, sharing fears, and celebrating achievements helped create an environment of trust where every participant could feel supported.
The process also left a deep impact on the volunteers themselves. Through the stories shared by the young women, they encountered realities shaped by constant challenges. “They taught us what it means to fight for a better future, even when conditions are not easy,” they reflect.
The experience transformed the way they see the world. It helped them recognize the value of empathy, support, and opportunities that are often taken for granted.
Beyond learning, what was truly built was community.
“We felt part of a group that supported one another.”
That sense of belonging, together with the impact created, strengthened their commitment to continue participating in initiatives that generate real change in people’s lives.
Their story reflects the power of volunteering when it is rooted in human connection and shared purpose.
